When it came time to write an updated menu theme for the Ayrton Senna DLC, I initially wanted to write something pretty, something that would make you smile. Something fitting as a tribute to such a legend, but yet it had to fit within the "HCT universe". I had the idea of switching from minor to major keys for the menu theme, I quietly imagined clips of his races flashing by as I wrote it. I got quite emotionally caught up in writing this one, and surprisingly (to me) when I submitted it, there was a lot of push back from the team. They didn't like how it felt in the game. Now as I write this note, some 6 months after writing this melody I got to finally hear the replacement piece I wrote after this IN the actual game, and I have to admit, the replacement does feel better IN the game. I still get a little teary eyed listening to this one though.
